Great White Sturgeon (Fraser River Marlin)

British Columbia : Latin motto, Splendor sine occasu “Splendour without diminishment”. Home of the mighty White Sturgeon, phenomenal runs of trophy Salmon and the prized wild Steelhead.

British Columbia is arguably the greatest of all sport fishing playgrounds. From the glacier fed wilderness streams to the mighty river systems that flow to the Pacific Ocean the West Coast offers year round sport on a colossal scale. Every year four of the five salmon species return in their millions ( Pink salmon return biannually)to provide a real challenge to the discerning angler. Due to the unique life cycle of these migratory salmon an incredible eco system has evolved over millions of years, creating an exceptional environment that can sustain healthy stocks of the massive White Sturgeon, the largest freshwater fish on earth. The returning salmon also provide a plentiful diet of eggs for the trophy rainbow, bull and cutthroat trout, all prize targets for the fly fishing enthusiast. As the Latin motto “Splendor sine occasu” suggests, British Columbia is a splendid province; it is also rather excessive because not only can it boast the mighty Chinook (Spring) along with it’s hard fighting cousins the Coho (silver) , Chum, Sockeye and Pink salmon, it possesses the ultimate prize for the game angler, the Steelhead.

The Fraser River valley offers everything from quiet untouched back waters and lakes to the more frequented main river. The Fraser River is surrounded by breathtaking mountains and countryside full of bald eagles, ospreys, black bear and elk.
